Last day of 2008

It's the last day of Year 2008.. and boy does time fly ! Thought I should blog something before the archive actually closes for this year. Really wanted to post pictures of my cousin's wedding but since it's the last post and all, I shall dedicate it to myself. I know, I'm selfish. But hey, can't I let life revolve around me, just this once?

So, moving on..

A year ago, I was 17.. and I was really happy when I got the ASEAN Scholarship. I was actually looking forward to Singapore. I have never been out of Malaysia before (no kidding) and I thought it would be fun. Yes, FUN. Isn't it fun when:

1. I have total freedom? No need to get permission for late night outs.
2. I can buy stuff that I really want without having to ask for money from mom and dad. Hello, the Singapore Government pays me to study !
3. I can sleep at 5am and wake up at 12pm and nobody will ever care. Well, except school days of course.
4. I can skip school ANYTIME I want to. No need to tell my parents why.
5. life can just flow on according to my preferences without anyone constantly yakking at me.

And so I flew to Singapore with my parents, filled with exhilaration and anticipation. Even the old hostel that I currently live in did not deter my interest. It is sort of old but I guess it still has a bit of home feeling. There I met people from all over ASIA and more.

In no particular order.. Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Laos.

And all of us were living under the same roof, Anglican House. It's pretty neat, if you ask me. It has a dining hall, gymnasium for you to tone up your muscles, 2 TV rooms where you rest and just chat, 1 computer room, 3 study rooms-don't ever go in there, especially the first one. I have warned you.- 2 tea rooms with microwave and fridge, laundry facilities(free) and nothing else.

Oh, there's free water available too.

Then, I met my room-mate. Presenting,

Wang Pei Shan.

She's from Penang as well. Quite a coincidence actually. We didn't get to know each other that well because she left in May/June. (She was offered JPA Scholarship which she obviously chose over ASEAN due to hectic life here) Well, at least I know she loves Enrique Iglesias and red is her ultimate favourite colour. How's that !

We lived in B13.

Our B12 neighbours.

And our B14 neighbours.

6 of us were pretty close. What do ya expect? We live next to each other and we practically see each other like EVERY DAY. (Doh)

When I first went to MJC, we had this orientation for like 4 days in which, we had to run all across Singapore, just for fun. If you ask me, it isn't fun at all. In fact, it's the worst thing ever thought up. I had severe cramps every single night. And you can bet I didn't enjoy it at all.

And we celebrated Chinese New Year.

Officially.

Unofficially (at KBox.. which is pretty crazy)

We had ECP outing.

Dance Concerts.

Hostel Orientation

The very precious Valentine's Day.

Hostel Camp

AJ Choir Concert.

Trip to Night Safari. (Best one, ever. I love animals!)

Birthdays.

Shoppings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some unforgettable moments:

1. how I've learnt to make new friends out of scratch.

2. the funny moments..

3. the crappy moments when we cried and shared each others' hugs/shoulders.

-No Pictures For This One-

4. how we went crazy and began scribbling on table tops.

5. my undying love towards FBG2. (on second thought, maybe it was a spur of the moment)

6. how we went ballistic after Mr. Ng decided to install window grills. We couldn't stop him so we ended up taking lotsa pictures.

7. I called someone out for a date, except that it wasn't for me but my friend ;) It was really intriguing !

8. Sleepovers in B12. WOO!

9. And the many bitching sessions we had.

Of course, there were also many accidents/unpleasant incidents...

1. Me falling while walking across the street.
2. Ishleen banging herself against the door.
3. Pei Shan and her hearing problem.
4. LongYin's room-mate went missing.
5. Me having severe cramps.
6. Amanda and her tummy-aches.
7. Amanda crying out of the blue.
8. Ishleen and Afshan's cold war.
9. Amanda not talking to me and Afshan.
10. Benjamin's chest-ache.
11. Raj sprained/broke his leg and had to use crutches.
12. Brent hurt his own toe while closing the cupboard.
13. PROJECT WORK.
14. Many more..

All in all, many things happened...

But it has definitely been a really great year!
